One of the best sites I’ve ever found is trip advisor. Lots of reviews by us ordinary people. I’ve been fortunate to go eight times to Cuba and it just seems to get better. My preferred resort is Sol Rio Luna, near Holguin beautiful beach, good food, friendly staff and fine entertainment. Although I’ve also been to Varadero, Cayo Coco and Trinidad. Whatever you do be sure to go to Havana, amazing history and culture. It willl be a highlight.

Cuba represents about 1/3 of the total land area of the Caribbean and about 1/3 of the total population. So it is a lot more than beaches and tourism.
Cuba has been the source of a number of musical styles over the last century. Cuban ballet dancers are world class. Painting, poetry … (The Cuban national hero - Jose Marti - was a poet and author).
But it is the music and dancing that is everywhere. On any occassion, Cubans love to sing and dance. (At the moment on TV, they keep showing an up-tempo salsa song, with a lot of people dancing to celebrate the anniversary of the CDRs !)
Cuba is a country of contrasts - a communist nation that dances to a salsa beat. A place where the main organ of propaganda is called Granma (which does mean what you might think - Grandma). A country that has been in an economic struggle with the US for 40 years, but still does most of its business in US dollars, and where baseball is the national sport.
Havana is an amazing city - founded almost 500 years ago, it did not suffer most of the redevelopment that other cities suffered in the 1960s and 70s.
