However, most of the people in our group are probably going to be retiring fairly early at night. I’m a night owl and by far the youngest of the group. All the brochures I’ve gotten on the area pretty much just focus on the fishing and natural beauty. Are there any night spots in the area or should I resign myself to getting to sleep by 8 pm each night in preparation for the early morning fishing trips?
Any advice on what type of clothes to bring, etc?

I am not sure about night spots, but I went to Alaska in August, and my Aunt lives there year-round. Summer gets up into the 80’s so short sleeves and cropped pants were perfect. Pack a light sweater for indoors or cooler evenings, but since the sun doesn’t set until well past midnight, it doesn’t cool off a whole lot.

For clothes, bring an assortment. Layers on and layers off is the best. Sitka gets a lot of rain being on the coast. There are are few bars there and some restaurants. It has been years since I lived there… be sure to make it to the Channel Club for dinner - it’s out the road a ways. You will find things to do in the evening. The hotels have bars and the hole in the wall local places are usually fun if you’re friendly! Have fun - hope you catch lots of fish, see lots of whales and the eagles there are everywhere!
