peachy78 asked:
I am traveling with my 5-month-old daughter down to Florida for Thanksgiving, because my grandmother is not doing well. She has cancer and the chemo is not helping…we think that she’s nearing the end. So I want to go down there soon and Thanksgiving is when everyone in the family gets together…but travel right now is so expensive. (I live in NH.) I’ve gone to bestfares.com, orbitz.com, travelocity.com, and most of the major airlines’ websites. I was quoted a pretty cheap airfare on bestfares, but I don’t know if I can get that rate when I call the airline that it’s offered thru. Does anyone have more experience with this? I’m a little overwhelmed! (I’ve only flown twice before and both times, the flights were arranged by friends of ours, not me.) Any help would be appreciated. Thx.

You could try booking through a travel agent. Travel agencies usually are given discounted rates compared to published rates on the airlines’ websites. And, the earlier you book, the cheaper, usually.
P.S. Don’t forget to request for a baby meal =) safe flight!

First off,you want to plan your trip as far in advance as possible, because the further away the date, the better the price. However, holidays are tough and no matter how far in advance you book them, its going to be alittle higher than if it wasnt a holiday.Secondly, its cheaper to fly mid week than it is on fri,sat or sun,but agin, its a holiday season so there will still be a difference in prices.Thirdly, shop around on line and book it right away when you find a good price because prices can change without notice within hours.Your 5month old should be free to fly as long as you have her on your lap. Also,i found that going thru a small travel agency in my city, was actually cheaper than going online, but this is not always the case.I know its overwealming and i’m giving you alot of “buts” BUT(lol) unfortunatly with airfare, ther are no set rules or tips.Things change constantly.Jet Blue online has good prices and i found Continental to be pretty cheap most of the time and I like Expedia and Cheap Tickets on line as well.I hope this has helped a little.Good luck.

I’ve had the best luck with. It’s been my savior while traveling throughout Europe and I know there’s a US version that I don’t doubt would have great deals as well. Good luck!
