I’d check Travelocity, Expedia, Orbitz, and Priceline. None has consistently lower fares than the other, so check all of them. Also, Southwest and JetBlue aren’t listed on any of those sites but often have the lowest fares, so if either of those flies the route you’re traveling it’s worth checking their websites for fares. If the lowest fare you find is on one of the travel sites that search multiple airlines, it’s worth checking the fare directly through the airline that had the cheapest fare on those sites as sometimes the fares are better directly through the airline (sometimes they’re way higher, but it’s generally worth checking).

From where? If you’re flying from Brazil, for example, I would advise differently than if you were flying from Florida. This forum is read around the world. Please edit your question to include your departure point, and how long you need to stay, and you will get higher quality answers.

The best last-minute service out there is priceline. Each service has their own “best item”, and priceline is last-minute deals.
