What you have to do is be ready to leave with three or four weeks notice and be a little flexible with itineraries..
Go to a travel agent & tell then you want to be emailed the last minute specials. They come out every week or two. The cruise lines will start deeply cutting prices to sell space when they see a large vacancy rate on a given cruise.

you could go to wal-mart travel and check under cruises. they are typically cheaper in the fall and spring.

Well your friend got a great deal… I’ve gotten them as little as $300 and I thought that was great!
All I can say is this…. when kids are out of school … EVERYTHING sky rockets…. when they go back to school you find these amazing deals because no one is able to go…. so that makes a lot of sense~ your friend’s bargain!
I check my favorite spot for cruises and came pretty close ($239) … do your research maybe you can come up with a good deal….also keep in mind you still have to pay your airfare to the departure destination plus fees for gov. & departure, gratutite, alcholoic drinks, etc.
